StoryBoard vs Previs Pro

An Apple-platform previs suite for storyboards, animatics, screenplay imports, virtual cameras, and 3D scene control.

The short answer

Choose Previs Pro when its specialist strengths match the work you need today. Choose StoryBoard when you want an existing screenplay to move through scene review, approved shots, cast references, live board generation, and coverage review.

AI-generated storyboard frames created from approved shots and attached cast references.

Best fit
Apple-based filmmakers who want hands-on 3D blocking, camera control, and animatics.
Directors and pre-production teams who want the screenplay and approved shot plan to remain attached to generation.
Choose Previs Pro when

Previs Pro's strengths are the job.

  • You want to pose characters and set cameras, lights, and props yourself.
  • Animatics and NLE timeline exports matter.
  • You work primarily on Apple devices and need portable previs.
Choose StoryBoard when

The screenplay should stay attached to every review step.

  • You want an AI first pass from approved screenplay shots.
  • You want cast-reference-driven imagery instead of 3D avatars.
  • You value speed and review gates more than exact virtual-camera setup.
Important context

StoryBoard is still a private beta.

StoryBoard currently ships whole-script scene mapping, scene selection, shot breakdowns, cast-reference setup, live board generation, retries, coverage-focused continuity review, and PDF export.

It does not yet replace precise 3D previs, a professional storyboard artist, mature client sign-off software, or a complete AI video-production suite. Visual consistency remains model-dependent and every important frame still needs human review.
