StoryBoard vs Boords

A mature collaborative storyboarding, animatic, review, and client sign-off platform.

The short answer

Choose Boords when its specialist strengths match the work you need today. Choose StoryBoard when you want an existing screenplay to move through scene review, approved shots, cast references, live board generation, and coverage review.

Side by side

AI-generated storyboard frames created from approved shots and attached cast references.
Review model
Strong sharing, frame comments, version history, approvals, animatics, and delivery.
Scene, shot, cast, generation, retry, coverage review, and PDF export in one guided flow.
Collaboration
A core strength: client links, comments, approvals, teams, API access, and webhooks.
Private-beta project workflow. Share links, frame comments, and real-time collaboration are not shipped yet.
Best fit
Agencies and brand teams that need polished client review and sign-off.
Directors and pre-production teams who want the screenplay and approved shot plan to remain attached to generation.
Choose Boords when

Boords's strengths are the job.

  • Client comments, approval records, and share links are central to your process.
  • You need animatics and mature collaborative delivery today.
  • You already have artwork and mainly need a dependable board workflow.
Choose StoryBoard when

The screenplay should stay attached to every review step.

  • You want the screenplay parsed into a scene map before visual generation.
  • You want approved shot breakdowns and cast references to guide each generated board.
  • You prefer a director-review flow focused on generation and coverage status.
Important context

StoryBoard is still a private beta.

StoryBoard currently ships whole-script scene mapping, scene selection, shot breakdowns, cast-reference setup, live board generation, retries, coverage-focused continuity review, and PDF export.

It does not yet replace precise 3D previs, a professional storyboard artist, mature client sign-off software, or a complete AI video-production suite. Visual consistency remains model-dependent and every important frame still needs human review.
