StoryBoard vs Adobe Firefly

A broad generative creative suite for images, video, audio, ideation boards, and Adobe workflows.

The short answer

Choose Adobe Firefly when its specialist strengths match the work you need today. Choose StoryBoard when you want an existing screenplay to move through scene review, approved shots, cast references, live board generation, and coverage review.

Side by side

The workflow difference

Adobe Firefly
EON StoryBoard
Starting point
Prompt, sketch, image, or collaborative ideation board inside the wider Adobe ecosystem.
Upload or paste a screenplay, review the extracted scene map, then choose what to board.
Visual output
Images, video, audio, designs, moodboards, and storyboards across Adobe and partner models.
AI-generated storyboard frames created from approved shots and attached cast references.
Review model
Explore and remix ideas on Boards, then refine assets in Adobe creative applications.
Scene, shot, cast, generation, retry, coverage review, and PDF export in one guided flow.
Collaboration
Strong team ideation and Adobe ecosystem integration; not a screenplay approval pipeline.
Private-beta project workflow. Share links, frame comments, and real-time collaboration are not shipped yet.
Best fit
Creative teams already invested in Adobe that need broad asset generation and refinement.
Directors and pre-production teams who want the screenplay and approved shot plan to remain attached to generation.
Choose Adobe Firefly when

Adobe Firefly's strengths are the job.

  • You want many top image and video models under one Adobe account.
  • Photoshop, Express, brand ideation, and commercial creative assets are the priority.
  • You need broad creative generation rather than a dedicated film-board workflow.
Choose StoryBoard when

The screenplay should stay attached to every review step.

  • You want screenplay structure, shots, and cast references to remain attached to the board.
  • You want scene and shot approval before generation.
  • You need board coverage and live generation status in film-production language.
Important context

StoryBoard is still a private beta.

StoryBoard currently ships whole-script scene mapping, scene selection, shot breakdowns, cast-reference setup, live board generation, retries, coverage-focused continuity review, and PDF export.

It does not yet replace precise 3D previs, a professional storyboard artist, mature client sign-off software, or a complete AI video-production suite. Visual consistency remains model-dependent and every important frame still needs human review.

Source note

Adobe Firefly offers image, video, audio, character, background, mood-board, vision-board, and storyboard generation, plus Firefly Boards and partner models.
